Why is experiential learning so powerful? The following case studies illustrate some of the personal transformations we’ve seen people make after attending our courses.
Pride goes before a fall
A team from a large company attended our LDiTraining Experiential Training Center. One executive constantly bragged about his accomplishments and berated his team members. However, during a high ropes course, he had to confront his fear of heights. At one difficult bridge, he couldn’t muster the courage to cross. After a number of false starts, he sat down and said, “I just can’t do it.”
At this point, we would normally send an instructor in to help him, but we recognized that this was an important learning moment for him. He was eventually able to get across with the help of two female subordinates who held his hand as he crossed. He learned a lot about himself and his team that day and will not be the same again.
Profit in honesty
After participating in our LDiTraining Experiential Business Solutions program, a pharmaceutical company owner decided to run his company honestly. The decision forced him to end a relationship with a hospital that used bribes and kickbacks, which negatively impacted the company’s profitability. The company’s long-term financial picture, however, is quite positive. Although his company now manufactures lower cost pharmaceuticals for the public, they are close to achieving their previous level of profitability.
